Will your dream happen? There are two determining factors.
A middle-aged man walked into a bank, approached the teller, and asked, “Will you cash this check?”
The teller examined the check and replied, “Of course. Just endorse it by signing your name on the back, hand it to me, and I’ll give you the money.”
The man hesitated, stepping back. “Wait a minute! I don’t want to sign the check and hand it over. Once you have it with my name on it, what if you decide not to give me the money?”
The teller remained patient. “Sir, that’s not how it works. You must sign the check before I can process it. It’s standard banking policy.”
“I understand,” the man said, “but you need to understand how I feel. It makes me nervous to think that I’ll sign my name, hand you the check, and then you might refuse to give me what’s rightfully mine.”
The teller sighed. “Sir, I assure you, I will give you the money, but you must follow the process.”
The man continued to argue, going back and forth with the teller. Finally, the teller, now frustrated, shook his head. “I’m sorry. I can’t help you. Please leave.”
Angered, the man stormed out of the bank.
He walked to another bank, repeated the same routine, frustrated another teller, and was once again refused service.
Determined, the man went to a third bank. Once again, he refused to sign his name on the check before receiving his money. He argued with the young teller, pushing the conversation back and forth until, finally, the exasperated teller had enough.
Reaching under the counter, the teller pulled out a rubber baseball bat, gave the man a firm whack on the head, and commanded, “Sign the darn check!”
Stunned, the man blinked, slowly picked up the pen, signed the back of the check, and handed it over. Without hesitation, the teller cordially handed him the money.
Feeling victorious, the man returned to the first bank, approached the original teller, and said smugly, “See? I got my money down the street.”
The teller raised an eyebrow and replied, “Yeah, but I bet even down the street, you had to sign the back of that check first.”
The man hesitated, then admitted, “Well… yeah, I did. But you see, no one ever quite explained it the way they did.”
Factor 1: Are You Harnessing the Law of Specificity?
We can create any life we desire, but the Law of Specificity states that to activate our dreams, we must be clear and precise about the life we are designing. It does no good to write a vague check to Life that simply says:
“Dear Life, I want a good life. Please give me a happy life.”
Life does not know how to cash that check—any more than a builder would know how to construct a “good house” or a “happy house.”
If you approached a contractor and said, “Build me a really happy house,” the contractor would likely respond, “What do you mean by a happy house? You need to describe it. You need to provide a clear vision—a blueprint.”
Likewise, Life is delighted to fulfill your request, but you must first define it with precision. Step one is deciding what you truly want and designing it with crystal clarity.
Factor 2: Will You Sign Your Name to It?
When building our dreams, we often approach the Teller of Life and ask, “Will you please give me what I want?”
In essence, Life responds, “Of course. I will give you your dream. But first, put your name on the check. Align your whole being with what you say you desire. Commit fully to your dream, and the doors of creation will open.”
Yet many of us hesitate. “Wait a minute! I don’t want to put my full self in. What if it doesn’t work out? I need to know first that everything will be okay. I want to see where all the pieces will come from. I want to know exactly how it’s going to happen. Let me have it first, and then I’ll commit. Then I’ll sign my name to it.”
But here’s the truth: every one of us has been given a sacred name: I AM. What we attach to I AM, whether it’s I am limited, or I am free, I can or I can’t, shapes our reality.
We exist within a divine Presence, Power, and Thinking Substance that molds itself according to our thoughts. When we sign our name to the life we truly desire, fully aligning our energy, emotions, and actions, we send a magnetic signal to the Universe.
And then something extraordinary happens.
Through the harmonic Laws of Vibration and Attraction, the right resources, people, and circumstances begin to show up, fulfilling the dream we’ve designed. Just as surely as a teller hands over the cash, once you’ve signed the check, the Universe delivers your dream once you’ve fully claimed it.
These Universal Laws, principles, and practices awaken us to who we truly are and what we are capable of. For many of us, our potential is far greater than we’ve ever imagined.
So, the two questions remain:
What do you truly want? And are you willing to sign your name to it?
